FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT SECURITY SYSTEMS BASED OUT OF WESTERN MASS & NORTHERN CT

How difficult will my alarm system be to operate?

Eastern Electronics & Security can design a system that is very user-friendly. Even if you've never used an alarm system before, you'll find that your new system is very easy to use and can be operated by technology novices.

Can Eastern Electronics & Security monitor my home for fire safety?

Yes, we offer 24-Hour UL-listed monitoring through a trusted third-party contractor.

What should I do if my alarm goes off?

If you accidentally trip your alarm, the central station will call the premise number for verification, or you could call 1-800-639-2066 from a cellular phone to cancel the alarm. You will need your account number and your password ready.

What happens when it's not a false alarm?

If an intruder trips your alarm, the Central Station will first call the premises to verify that it wasn't an accident (to cut down on false alarm calls to the police station). Then the police will be alerted, followed by your call list.

If it's a fire alarm, some towns require us to first call the premises if it's a residential alarm. Others require us to call the fire department first. For commercial properties, the fire department will always be called first, unless we have written consent from the fire department.

How do I set the clock on my system?

Visit ourResources pagefor user manuals for our most popular systems.

Should I test my system?

Yes, we recommend periodic testing of the alarm system.

How do I put my account on test ?

If you want to ignore signals coming into the Central Station from your system, call the Central Station with your account number and password. This will place your system on test, and the Central Station will not call anyone on the signals you have asked them to disregard for a preset time. The alarm will still sound on the premises.   If you do not have the phone number for your Central Station, please contact our office.

Burglary and trouble signals can be placed on test for up to two weeks, and fire alarms can only be placed on test a day at a time.

Will my alarm system still work if we lose power?

Yes. Your alarm system uses a battery backup and will continue to operate for several hours after the power goes out, depending on battery condition.

How long will it take to install my security alarm system?

Depending on the type of coverage and alarm system, the average time for installation is 1-2 days.

How do you install alarm systems?

In most homes and businesses, we can wire through the attic and inside the walls so that you don't see exposed wiring. We also use wireless devices.

Should I have Eastern Electronics & Security wire my home during construction?
